MVCTC uses multiple forms of communication to keep parents and families informed.

Email and text messaging are our primary methods for general communication, so please ensure your contact information is up to date when completing student forms. Automated phone calls will be used for urgent or time-sensitive messages, such as weather delays, closings, and emergencies.

Daily Announcements

MVCTC regularly receives updates from our partner districts about events, activities, and important dates. Daily announcements are shared with students through MVCTC email, displayed on the screens in the Multipurpose Activity Center (MAC) during lunch, and available to check on the website.

These announcements are a great way for students to stay informed and connected while attending MVCTC.

Northmont Food Service operates the cafeteria facilities at the MVCTC. If you have any questions or concerns regarding food service, please feel free to call our office at 937-832-5055.

• What is the price of the school meals? Meal prices are $1.90 for breakfast (free for reduced-price students) and $3.00 for lunch (free for reduced-price students). MVCTC students have numerous breakfast, lunch and à la carte options daily. 
• How do I pay for school meals? Parents can access PaySchools Central to manage all of their students’ account information, view transaction history, set up recurring payments, create spending limits/restrictions, set up low-balance alerts, apply for free/reduced priced meals, and more. We highly encourage parent interaction with this payment software (choose Northmont City Schools as the school district). Money can still be added to a student’s account through cash or check in person in the cafeteria.

PaySchools Central

• What if I have low-funds on my account? According to the school’s charging policy, students will not be allowed to charge any items in the cafeteria. Parents can subscribe to low-balance notifications through PaySchools Central.
• How can I qualify for financial assistance? If you need help with meal costs, you can complete a Free and Reduced-Price School Meals Application. An application can be completed online through PaySchools Central. Please follow these instructions found on the MVCTC website to submit an application. If you do not have access to a computer, please contact your principal’s office for a copy. Complete the application and return it to Northmont Food Service, 7277 Hoke Road, Englewood, Ohio 45315 or give it to the MVCTC Cafeteria Manager. Each Application will be reviewed and an eligibility determination will be made within 10 working days upon receipt of the application. Notification will be sent through email if provided or mail. Children who do not attend MVCTC should be listed as a member of the household on the application - you will also need to complete a separate meal application for that student with the school district they attend. If you need help with this application, please call 937-832-5061. (Please note that the Free/Reduced Fee Waiver does not apply to MVCTC students.)

ProgressBook

MVCTC uses ProgressBook for student grades.  Students and families will be given a student key to register for ProgressBook within the first few weeks of school.

MVCTC’s School Health Services are dedicated to protecting and improving student health, supporting their growth and development, and ensuring they can fully benefit from their educational experience.

School Nurse Services

• Available during regular school hours.
• Students who feel ill must get a pass from their instructor before reporting to the Clinic.
• Students should not contact parents for dismissal before visiting the Clinic.

If a student is too ill to remain at school, the school nurse will notify the parent/guardian and arrange for the student to be picked up or drive home if applicable.

MVCTC is a public school, and there is no tuition to attend. However, to provide a high-quality, hands-on education that prepares students for their future careers, some programs have additional costs that are included in student fees. These fees cover essential materials, tools, and experiences necessary for learning.

Each year, MVCTC carefully evaluates program fees to keep costs as low as possible. We seek cost-effective alternatives and only include items that are vital to student success. We also recognize that fees can be a financial challenge for some families, and we are committed to working with students and families to find solutions.

• Payment Plans – Families can make payments over time through an online account or by sending monthly check payments.
• Scholarships – The MVCTC Education Foundation provides fee scholarships for students, typically awarded in April or May. Students should contact their MVCTC School Counselor for details and applications.

The Student Notebook Access Program (Sn@p) at MVCTC was one of the first initiatives in the state designed to ensure that every student has access to a personal computer to enhance their learning experience. This program provides students with the technology they need to succeed in their career-technical and academic courses, fostering digital literacy and innovation. To support students, the Sn@p Desk, located in the Student Foyer, offers assistance with troubleshooting, repairs, and general technology needs, ensuring that devices remain functional and accessible throughout the school year.

Treasurer's Office - Fees and Scholarship reimbursement

If your partner school district is closed/delayed due to bad weather –

• When a partner school district is closed due to weather conditions or other calamities, students from the closed school are not required to report to MVCTC.
• Students may report if they choose to find a safe way to MVCTC.
• Students from other schools that are not closed are required to report as usual to MVCTC.
• If the partner school district operates on a delayed schedule, students must report at the appropriate time as adjusted by the partner school delay.
• Students on advanced placement are not required to report to MVCTC if their partner school is on a delayed schedule.
• If the student reports to the MVCTC at the regular time (and discovers that their partner school is on a delay), they are to remain at school and follow the MVCTC schedule.

 MVCTC CLOSED DUE TO BAD WEATHER

When MVCTC is closed on the authority of the administration and/or the Board of Education due to weather conditions or other calamities, no student is required to report to school. When such a decision is made, the media and TV newsrooms are immediately notified, and a School Messenger System phone call will be sent to families according to the number they have on file with the district. Please ensure that the phone number on file with the MVCTC is current. Please do not call personnel, the school offices, or the media.
