MVCTC Students Inspire Career Exploration Across Miami Valley

MVCTC Students Inspire Career Exploration Across Miami Valley

Englewood, Ohio – Students from the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) recently showcased the power of career exploration by participating in two major events that connected young people across the region with exciting opportunities in career and technical education. Under the direction of Career Exploration Coordinator Mr. Todd Engel, MVCTC students are taking the lead in demonstrating how passion and curiosity can grow into meaningful futures.

Made in Miami County – Career Exploration Event

On Tuesday, September 23, eighth-grade students from across Miami County gathered at the Miami County Fairgrounds for the Made in Miami County career exploration event. MVCTC students shared their own experiences, led interactive activities, and inspired middle schoolers to explore the numerous career pathways available to them.

Special thanks to the MVCTC representatives who made an impact:

  • Perla Fuentes (Bethel) – Cosmetology
  • Emma Hershberger (Miami East) – Veterinary Science
  • Michael Krull (Milton-Union) – Career Compass (Retail Agriculture Services)

Their leadership emphasized that choosing a career path can be both exciting and rewarding, especially when it is rooted in personal interests.

Girls in Aviation Day – Inspiring the Next Generation

On Sunday, September 28, MVCTC students joined Wings of Women, Girls in Aviation, and STEM Careers Day at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. The event, hosted by Women in Aviation’s Huffman Prairie chapter along with Technology First, Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, SOCHE, FASTLANE, and the National Aviation Hall of Fame, welcomed hundreds of young people to explore aviation and STEM career opportunities.

Two 2025 MVCTC graduates of the Aviation Maintenance Technician program guided participants in safety wiring a turnbuckle, a critical skill used to ensure smooth and accurate flight control inputs:

  • Autumn Randall (Brookville)
  • Kathryn Wilcox (Huber Heights)

By sharing their technical expertise, these students served as role models for younger generations, encouraging them to consider careers in aviation and STEM fields.

Career Exploration at MVCTC

These events are part of MVCTC’s ongoing Career Exploration program, which partners with area schools to introduce students to the diverse opportunities available through career-technical education. Led by Mr. Todd Engel, the program helps students explore their interests, connect with mentors, and gain hands-on experiences that spark future goals.

MVCTC remains committed to preparing students for in-demand careers while helping them discover the pathways that align with their passions and strengths.
