MVCTC Natural Resource Management Graduates Earn Third Place at Ohio Envirothon

Recent graduates of Miami Valley Career Technology Center's Natural Resource Management program demonstrated their knowledge of environmental science and natural resource conservation by earning Third Place at the 2026 Ohio Envirothon State Competition.

The MVCTC team included:

• Kris Eilerman
• Grant Heiser
• Mathew McCans

After qualifying for the state competition by placing among the top teams in their sectional contest, the students advanced to compete against 20 of Ohio's best high school teams at the state finals held at Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio.

The Ohio Envirothon is a hands-on environmental competition that challenges students to apply their knowledge in real-world natural resource management scenarios. Throughout the competition, students completed field practicums in:

• Forestry
• Wildlife Management
• Aquatics
• Soil Science

In addition to the field stations, each team researched and presented solutions to a current environmental issue involving non-point source pollution, demonstrating their ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and develop practical conservation strategies.

The team's third-place finish reflects countless hours of classroom instruction, field experiences, and independent preparation throughout their time in MVCTC's Natural Resource Management program.
