MVCTC FFA Raises $13,200 for Ronald McDonald House at Annual Charity Auction

December once again brought one of MVCTC’s most meaningful traditions: the Annual FFA Charity Auction, with all proceeds benefiting the Ronald McDonald House of Dayton. Now in its 45th year, the event continues to prove that generosity, community, and career-technical education make a powerful combination.

This year’s auction raised $13,200, all of which supports families with hospitalized children in the Dayton area. Every dollar goes to the Ronald McDonald House on Valley Street, providing families a place to rest, recharge, and stay close to their children during medical treatment.

The auction traces its roots back to 1980, when retired MVCTC Agricultural Education instructor Waid Lyons launched the first event, the same year the Dayton Ronald McDonald House opened. That original auction, a simple hat sale, raised just $250. Since then, MVCTC FFA has consistently supported the Ronald McDonald House.

The event’s success is made possible by the dedication of MVCTC FFA members, along with alumni, staff, retired staff, and family members who return year after year to support the cause. Their commitment has helped turn a small idea into a long-standing tradition with a lasting community impact.

MVCTC FFA is proud to continue supporting the Ronald McDonald House of Dayton and the families it serves, proving once again that leadership and service are at the heart of agricultural education.
