Communications at MVCTC

MVCTC uses multiple forms of communication to keep parents and families informed.

Email and text messaging are our primary methods for general communication, so please ensure your contact information is up to date when completing student forms. Automated phone calls will be used for urgent or time-sensitive messages, such as weather delays, closings, and emergencies.

Daily Announcements

MVCTC regularly receives updates from our partner districts about events, activities, and important dates. Daily announcements are shared with students through MVCTC email, displayed on the screens in the Multipurpose Activity Center (MAC) during lunch, and available to check on the website.

These announcements are a great way for students to stay informed and connected while attending MVCTC.

Ohio House Bill 96 mandates that by January 1, 2026, all public-school districts 
must adopt a policy banning all student use of personal communication devices 
(i.e., cell phones) during the instructional day. 

Effective as of the start of the second semester, Tuesday, January 6, 2026, students will not be permitted to use cell phones during the instructional day. 

Key points:

• Prohibits all cell phone use beginning at 8:05 a.m. through the end of the school day at 2:30 p.m., including hallways, between classes, and the restroom
• Smartwatches may be worn but not be used for any unauthorized purpose during the instructional day
• Students are permitted to use their cell phones during the following times:
  • During their lunch period, once inside the Multipurpose Activity Center (MAC) and put away when departing for class
  • While riding in school vehicles
  • As authorized by staff during instructional time or school-related events/functions
• Violation of this policy will result in progressive disciplinary action as listed:
  • Detentions
  • In-School Reassignment
  • Out-of-School Suspension
  • Expulsion 

Students with documented needs, such as those outlined in an IEP, 504 Plan, or 
medical documentation from a physician, may still access or use their device for their learning or health needs, as documented in the plan. Students with documented exceptions should contact their MVCTC principal for more information.

We encourage families to discuss this policy together and prepare accordingly before the second semester begins. If you need to contact your child during the  school day, please call our main number at 937-837-7781.

Scholarships

MVCTC is a public school, and there is no tuition to attend. However, to provide a high-quality, hands-on education that prepares students for their future careers, some programs have additional costs that are included in student fees. These fees cover essential materials, tools, and experiences necessary for learning.

Each year, MVCTC carefully evaluates program fees to keep costs as low as possible. We seek cost-effective alternatives and only include items that are vital to student success. We also recognize that fees can be a financial challenge for some families, and we are committed to working with students and families to find solutions.

• Payment Plans – Families can make payments over time through an online account or by sending monthly check payments.
• Scholarships – The MVCTC Education Foundation provides fee scholarships for students, typically awarded in April or May. Students should contact their MVCTC School Counselor for details and applications.

Student Services

The Student Notebook Access Program (Sn@p) at MVCTC was one of the first initiatives in the state designed to ensure that every student has access to a personal computer to enhance their learning experience. This program provides students with the technology they need to succeed in their career-technical and academic courses, fostering digital literacy and innovation. To support students, the Sn@p Desk, located in the Student Foyer, offers assistance with troubleshooting, repairs, and general technology needs, ensuring that devices remain functional and accessible throughout the school year.

Some career-technical programs at MVCTC require students to wear uniforms as part of their lab experience, promoting professionalism and safety in their field of study. Instructors will communicate specific uniform expectations before the school year begins or during the first week of classes. These uniforms help students prepare for real-world work environments and industry standards. While not all programs require uniforms, students can show their MVCTC pride by purchasing spirit wear. If your partner school district is closed/delayed due to bad weather –

• When a partner school district is closed due to weather conditions or other calamities, students from the closed school are not required to report to MVCTC.
• Students may report if they choose to find a safe way to MVCTC.
• Students from other schools that are not closed are required to report as usual to MVCTC.
• If the partner school district operates on a delayed schedule, students must report at the appropriate time as adjusted by the partner school delay.
• Students on advanced placement are not required to report to MVCTC if their partner school is on a delayed schedule.
• If the student reports to the MVCTC at the regular time (and discovers that their partner school is on a delay), they are to remain at school and follow the MVCTC schedule.

 MVCTC CLOSED DUE TO BAD WEATHER

When MVCTC is closed on the authority of the administration and/or the Board of Education due to weather conditions or other calamities, no student is required to report to school. When such a decision is made, the media and TV newsrooms are immediately notified, and a School Messenger System phone call will be sent to families according to the number they have on file with the district. Please ensure that the phone number on file with the MVCTC is current. Please do not call personnel, the school offices, or the media.
