Admissions Procedures

To attend MVCTC, you must:

• Be a student at one of our 27 partner schools or another Ohio public or private high school

• Be entering 11th or 12th grade next school year

• Be in good standing with solid attendance, behavior, and grades

• Have satisfactory scores on state assessments

• Meet the Suggested Skills for Success for your program of interest

• Be on track to graduate (no credit deficiencies)

Applications for the 2026-2027 school year open Thursday, December 4, at 4:30 p.m.
Apply early for the best chance to secure a spot in your first-choice program.

• Priority Partner School Review (Mid-February – Mid-March)
  • For current partner school students who apply by January 30
• Rolling Admission Reviews (in order of priority)
  • Partner School Students (Begin in Mid-February)
  • Partner District Resident Student (Begin in Mid-April)
  • Open Enrollment & Senior Student (Begin in Mid-June)

1. Your school counselor reviews and finalizes your application. The school counselor will:
   • Review your student and parent information
   • Submit the required counselor and student information
   • Submit course request forms (one for each program choice)
   • Submit your 9th-grade and first-semester 10th-grade transcript
   • Final 10th-grade transcripts will be submitted at the end of the current school year

2. Once your school counselor has finalized your application, MVCTC will review it according to the schedule below.
   ⚠️ Important: Applications will not be reviewed until your school has finalized them.

Priority Review - Mid-February – Mid-March
For current partner school students who apply by January 30.

Rolling Admissions - After the priority review, applications are reviewed in this order:

• Partner School Students – beginning mid-February
• Non-Partner (Resident) Students – beginning mid-April
• Open Enrollment & Senior Students – beginning mid-June

3. You’ll receive an email when your status changes (accepted, waitlisted, or ineligible).
   • Emails will be sent to the parent/guardian's email listed on the application. This is why it is critical that the correct emails be shared.
   • If you need to update your parent/guardian email, email studetservices@mvctc.com.
4. For partner school students reviewed during the Priority Partner School Review, status letters will be given to the partner school counselor to share with their students after Thursday, March 26, 2026.

We look at each student’s eligibility and school record. At MVCTC, we welcome students who are motivated, responsible, and ready to grow. Our goal is to build a student community that works hard, supports one another, and prepares for success after high school.

If You’re Eligible

• Your first-choice program is reviewed first.

• If that program is full, your second choice will be considered if space is available.

• If selected, you’ll receive a conditional acceptance.

• If not selected, you’ll be placed on a waitlist.

• Final transcripts for all conditionally accepted or waitlisted students are reviewed in July.

  • You’ll only be contacted if your status changes or you become ineligible.

If You’re Not Yet Eligible

• End-of-Year (EOY) Status: If you’re missing two or fewer credits, your application will be reviewed again after your final transcript is received (usually mid-June).

• Ineligible (IE) Status: If you’re missing more than two credits, admission isn’t possible because of limited scheduling options to stay on track for graduation.

  • If you earn additional credits later, you may submit an updated transcript for review.

If Seats Open Up

Open seats are filled based on program availability.

Your parent or guardian receives the official acceptance email for the Miami Valley Career Technology Center, and your next chapter starts here. You’re joining a community that values hands-on learning, career skills, and real-world experience.

Step 1: Confirm Your Spot

Your parent or guardian will receive an official acceptance email.
Log in to the MVCTC Portal to accept or decline your seat.

⚠️ If you don’t respond, your seat may be given to another student — so make sure to confirm right away!

Stay on track at your home school with strong grades, good attendance, and positive behavior. Keeping your eligibility ensures your MVCTC enrollment stays secure.

Step 2: Stay Connected

Keep an eye on the email address used in your application and check MVCTC.com regularly for updates. More information about the start of school will be shared in mid-to-late July.

Step 3: Schedule Pickup & Open House

Monday, August 3 | 3:30 – 7:30 p.m.

This is your chance to:

• Pick up your class schedule
• Meet your MVCTC teachers and staff
• Tour your lab and classrooms
• Pay school fees
• Receive your school-issued laptop

It’s a great day to explore your campus and get ready for your new adventure.

Step 4: First Day of School

Monday, August 11
Come ready to learn, create, and build your future. MVCTC is where your passion meets opportunity — and we can’t wait to see what you’ll achieve.

• Applications from students who do not fully meet eligibility requirements may be reviewed if space is available.
• Students with credit deficiencies may still enroll if they meet with their MVCTC school counselor and create a plan to make up the credit.
• Senior applicants will be reviewed after junior placements as space allows.
• Current MVCTC students requesting a program change will be reviewed towards the end of the school year or during the summer, if space is available.
• Students deferring graduation will be reviewed during the summer, as space allows.
• MVCTC shall comply with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the admission of students with disabilities. Final acceptance for admission of a student with an IEP will be determined after an IEP meeting is convened with an MVCTC representative in attendance.
